STL SHARPSHOOTER FIREARMS SAFETY RULES
CARDINAL RULES:
- Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you intend to press it.
- Never point a firearm at anyone unless you are justified and never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond.
GENERAL RULES:
- All safety rules will be strictly enforced and no unsafe or careless behavior will be tolerated.
- Anyone suspected of alcohol or drug use prior to requesting range usage will be denied range usage.
- Keep firearms pointed in a safe direction at all times. For the purposes of the SharpShooter facility, “safe direction” is defined as down range only.
- No handling of firearms outside your designated stall. All loading and unloading during sessions will be conducted within your designated shooting stall only, including loading of magazines.
- When transporting firearms to/from SharpShooter complex and range, handguns must be concealed, or in a case (unloaded); all shoulder firearms must be unloaded and in a case.
- NO drawing and firing from a holster.
- Upon first handling a firearm, immediately face a safe direction and perform a safety check, unloading if necessary, checking and checking again.
- No one is allowed to go or reach beyond the red firing line at any time. No cross lane shooting.
- Target distance for rifle shooting must be at 50’ or further
- "Although we root for the Cardinals, the state bird of Missouri is the Blue Bird." Code word (Blue Bird)
- Shooters must not fire more rapidly than their ability permits. Uncontrollable shooting, including that without proper sighting, is prohibited and that resulting in damage to the range will result in revoking of range privileges and liability for damages.
- Never offer to receive a firearm from another person unless the cylinder/action is open, the firearm is unloaded, and the open ejection port/cylinder can be seen by the person receiving the firearm. Hand the firearm over grip first.
- All firearms must have some type of formal sight (I.E. Irons, Scope, Red Dot).
- Sights must be used, no hip firing is allowed.
- Immediately report any unsafe condition on the range to a SharpShooter staff member.
- Cease fire if you feel there is a problem with your firearm and clear the firearm.
- Eye and ear protection are required on the range, and a baseball type cap is recommended.
- No food, drink, tobacco products, or vape in the range area.
- Only one person is allowed to fire at a time in each lane / shooting stalls.
- Firearms and ammunition are subject to inspection by SharpShooter staff. Steel core, steel jacketed, steel case, tracer and incendiary rounds are strictly prohibited.
- Shotgun ammunition must be slugs or #1 buckshot or larger. No birdshot #4, #6, #8.

*All ages are welcome to shoot we just require that anyone under 18 be accompanied by a parent. (children under 7yrs old not recommended)
